Before I get to the photos I’d like to shout out a few things that deserve celebration and acknowledgment. I left The Bay to move to NYC 1 month ago today. Happy 1 month-versary to me and NYC! I’ve been smoke free for exactly 1 year. 3 cheers for my lungs and stink free hair! And lastly, today is my father’s birthday. Hopefully he’s feasting on the other side celebrating! Reflecting on these things makes it really apparent that time really is of the essence, isn’t it??
Now, the photos.. These are from the past couple of weeks. There’s a lot although I’m missing quite a few good ones from other people’s camera’s but here you go anyways..
Montauk for Asia’s Thirsty 30: There was a good group of probably 15. The drive was about 3 hours from the City with traffic. Montauk is the furthest tip of Long Island. We drove through the Hamptons to get there which was cool. We bar hopped, had long beach days, played games, bbq’d and walked around the cute town. The last day we hiked through the greenery to get to bluffs and scaled the cliff to get down to the beach. Huxley at one point decided to run up the cliff to the car because I guess he wasn’t havin’ the beach anymore and was probably scared we were going to throw him in the water. Olga had to chase him up the cliff and she found him halfway to the car. I almost had a heart attack. I thought he was lost forever. I’d like that to never happen again. On the way back we stopped at a bar on the beach in the Hamptons to eat and drink and watch the sunset. That is where we saw a goat on the beach! It was 3 weeks old and her name was Peanut. She was the most adorable thing but the owner didn’t want dogs near her so Hux unfortunately didn’t get to play. Montauk was a beautiful beach town and the weather was great. I’m happy Hux and I were able to go and experience that.
Movie Night on the Hudson River: Throughout the summer NYC parks/piers show movies weekly. It’s awesome. Hux and I went early to save seats for my friend Dahlia and her coworkers. We watched the Princess Bride. Going to the bathroom with Hux stepping over blankets and chairs and people drunk is not fun for those people I’m stepping over but it was funny for me. I really love events that are dog friendly.
Walks in Central Park: Almost daily we’ve been walking through the park and exploring. Central Park is beautiful. Little known fact: Golden Gate park is about 20% bigger than Central Park. Who woulda thunk??
Giants Game and Mini- MVHS reunion: I saw Scotty and Derek were in town last weekend so we were able to get together. Scotty’s friend Alex got free tickets with free food and club access to the Giants vs Mets game at Citifield. It was awesome. Unfortunately, the Giants lost that game but the fireworks show at the end eased my broken heart a bit. Plus they won the next day 9-0
I have more photos to show you all. Some randoms and some of the apartment so you can picture how I’m living but I’ll save that for another post.
Currently I’m enjoying an iced mocha and sweet treat after walking around for a while. I had breakfast at this cute place in my hood earlier, walked around making mental notes of all the other places I wanted to visit later, ran a couple errands then found my way to this bakery that’s been recommended to me by 3 different people called Levain Bakery off 74th and Amsterdam here in the UWS. For those that know me know I’m more a savory over sweets type person, but I couldn’t resist trying this chocolate chip walnut cookie everyone’s been raving about. It’s fucking delicious. Good thing I live in a walk up because seriously my diet has been awful and once the cooler weather comes I’m not sure how I’m going to fit into my pants. It’s problematic.
Speaking of… tonight I have plans to attend the Time Out Battle of the Burger event. Basically I’m taste testing burgers from 15 different restaurants and voting on which are my favs. I fucking love New York.
